Yamkela Makupula

South African Diamond Producers Association (SADPO)

Yamkela is a South African business woman. She is the founder and the Executive Chairperson of NgweNduna (NIH) investment holdings invested in Mining, Agriculture and Legal Services. Through NgweNduna Diamonds, in 2021, Yamkela invested in the former Rockwell Diamonds Alluvial mines, situated in the Northern Cape and Pioneer Tender House. Since then Yamkela has expanded her diamond investments to other African countries. 

In 2022 she was appointed as the CEO of the South African Diamond Producers Organisation (SADPO). Her role includes building relationships for the industry with other mining industry partners, including governments and international partners dealing with policy and economic issues that affect the diamond sector in South Africa. 

 

Yamkela is a former PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) Director/Partner in Africa. At PWC she worked in Advisory Committees for the South African government both in parliament and in government for Trade and Industry, Local Government and Traditional Leadership, Department of Health and some of the State-Owned Entities. 

Yamkela is a former Advisor to the Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leadership in the South African Parliament, advising Kings and Chiefs of South Africa on how to maximise on the economy for their respective communities.

She currently co owns Diaz Reus Africa, part of a US based legal firm that is in over 40 countries globally, represented in China, US, Africa, UAE and Europe. She has been a recipient of numerous awards and nominations. In 2017 she was named top 40 under 40 African leaders. In 2021 she was named one of the most influential women in Africa both in business and politics and received business leader of the year by Global African Awards.
